Why I'm studying Japanese

I chose to take first-year Japanese because I cannot write any Kanji, hiragana or katakana, so I felt I wasn't ready to take a more advanced Japanese class.

I'm drawn to the class mainly because I'm interested in Japanese video games and animes.

Sometimes I would find it a bit challenging to write hiragana because hand-written hiragana is somehow different from the typed version. I have been used to typing hiragana for years and this adjustment takes some time.

  1. I am also drawn to the Japanese anime, however, I haven't really gotten into the video games just yet, but I do watch my brother play the video games time to time. I also stumble a little bit between the difference from hand writing to typed hiragana as I usually write the typed version, mainly for ki, sa, and ra.

    1. Hi Zariah,
Haha yes it's really difficult to adjust to the handwriting style.
Just my piece of advice, but if you are serious about learning Japanese then probably playing Japanese video games can be a pretty good training; it basically combines listening with reading comprehension. Watching anime in English subtitles may not help a lot because the sentence structure differs greatly in these two languages.

My favorite anime is Darker than Black; I was really impressed when I watched it in middle school, probably because the protagonist is such a cool Chinese guy:p. ワンピースもすきです!
